HYPEREALISME PAINTING FOR Musée Grévin (CANADA )

 MUSEE GREVIN - Zombie Boy
Urgently called in by the Musée Grevin's workshop to finish the Zombie Boy sculpture by hand in a very short time, responsiveness is the order of the day.
The pieces are to be shipped to the Musée Grevin in Montreal in 3 weeks. The first meeting in the workshop is important to understand the nature of the work and to succeed in this job.
I'm given documentation on the tattoos to be done on his hands. So I pick up the two hands to be painted and when I get to the studio I have to think about how I'm going to land on them.
First I paint them, which are tinted pink. Give them a real skin tone. Then the nails, with all the details on.The color and skin tone effects are done in oil paint.
It's a delicate job because it has to look REAL. The drawing from photos has to correspond in 3D to the volume of the hand.
This is where it gets complicated. I spend a lot of time turning the hands over and over to see if they fit!

I use the brushes to make the marks and then attack with the AB turbine airbrush from PAASCHE.
The advantage of this type of airbrush is that it's very, very fine.
A few light touch-ups and brush accents finish the job.
A final check before delivery and off we go.

The shop was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hand painting and it remains a good working memory.
